Design Specific Questions:
- Are there certain design parameters, bay sizes, or standards I should be aware of that are more cost effective? Yes. Standardized bay widths (24’ or 36’), column spacing (10’ or 12’) , and gutter heights are typically more cost-effective, as they align with proven structural designs, material efficiencies, and commonly available components. VWGC guides clients toward design parameters that balance performance, flexibility, and budget while meeting local code requirements.
- Do you have a check-list for design decisions that need to be made? Yes. We provide a comprehensive design checklist that addresses critical decisions such as greenhouse type, size, layout, glazing, environmental systems, structural loads, utilities, and future expansion considerations. This ensures nothing is overlooked during the planning phase.
- What if I do not fully know what I want in my greenhouse; can VWGC help me decide? Absolutely. Many clients begin the process with general goals rather than detailed specifications. VWGC works collaboratively with you to evaluate operational needs, budget, and site conditions, then recommends solutions tailored to your objectives.
- Can you provide engineered signed and sealed structural drawings? Yes. VWGC can provide engineered structural drawings that are signed and sealed by licensed professional engineers, as required by local authorities and permitting agencies.
- What sort of design/Installation documentation will I receive? Clients receive a drawing package, which may include general arrangement drawings, structural drawings, equipment layouts, installation details. Documentation is tailored to support permitting, construction, and long-term operation.
- Does VWGC offer a turn-key greenhouse solution? Responsibility for concrete work and MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) is placed on GC and Client of the project. VWGC offers solutions that include design, engineering coordination, fabrication, material supply, and installation.
- Who are your preferred vendors for various greenhouse systems and equipment? We work with a network of trusted, industry-leading vendors for greenhouse systems and equipment. Vendor selection is based on reliability, performance, availability, and compatibility with project goals. Specific vendors are recommended based on the needs of each project.
- Can I go visit similar greenhouse projects that VWGC has completed? When feasible, VWGC can help arrange visits to completed projects or provide references and case studies. This allows prospective clients to see comparable greenhouse designs and applications firsthand.
